Grow Room Before & After Plus a Handy Gadget

Grow Room Before & After Plus a Handy Gadget

Early this year I began with a very basic seed starting set up in the corner of a room in my home. I wanted to show that it didn’t matter how little space you had, you could still grow plants. That’s still very true, but I feel it’s time for me to redo this room and create a dedicated growing space. After all, there are many plants I want to start indoors in the coming days and months, and having an organized room makes things much easier.

I cleaned up the room by finally dealing with some of my cardboard collection. I often save cardboard to use in the garden to prep new planting sites or make paths, but I haven’t used it so far this year so it’s time to recycle it. I also purchased an inexpensive folding table from Home Depot to set my trays up and I came across a handy gadget to help me keep track of the temperature and humidity level in that room.

Smartro SC92 Thermometer & Hygrometer

The Smartro Temperature Monitor allows me to keep track of temperatures and humidity levels in multiple zones. The thermometer comes with an extra sensor that I plan to keep in my grow room. I will keep the main unit in my kitchen on the fridge. Did I mention it has magnets that conveniently (and securely) attach to metal? That way I can always monitor the temperature and humidity level of my growing room without having to set foot inside. I love that this temperature monitor arrives calibrated and doesn’t need much setup, and I really love that it can be linked to up to 3 remote sensors. Some day, when I’m able to set up a proper greenhouse outdoors, I will buy another sensor to use with this Smartro unit. Check out some features of this temperature monitor:

The Smartro SC92 is only $25.99. Use code: 8Q83LJ7D for a discount. Buy it here. It is also available on Amazon.

I will update as soon as I set up my trays. I plan to start some native perennial seeds that I saved earlier this year to hopefully plant them outside in the Fall (did you know Fall is a great time for planting?) and I’m also hoping to grow lettuce and kale indoors through the winter this year. I’ve been so busy and with the beginning of the school year approaching I’m about to get busier, but cleaning up and investing in a handy gadget like the Smartro SC92 has given me a big head start! I can’t wait to start growing.
